šŸŽµšŸŽ¶UNDER PRESSUREšŸŽ¶šŸŽµ

I hope you sang that!

šŸš˜Throughout my life, Iā€™ve stopped on the side of the road to help push at least Ā½ a dozen vehicles up the road and out of harms way.

Two weeks ago, on my way home after a long day I saw another stranded vehicle and stopped to offer my assistance.

ā›½ļøThey ran out of gas and the next gas station was a little under a mile away so I prepared for my second workout of the dayā€” nothing like pushing a vehicle to hammer on your legs, core, heart and lungs!

(Takes me back to my CJC football playing days when coach would load us up and drive us out X number miles away from campus only to have us push his truck back for skipping class)

I noticed (and quickly felt) I had a slight incline to push the car up and over.

šŸ§ As my hands were cemented into the back of this Toyota, my knees driving into my chest, and heart thumping out of my chest, I got to thinkingā€¦

The initial push to get a stationary vehicle moving can be rather difficult but once you get the car rolling it gets relatively easy so long as you can keep pressure applied.

šŸ¤ÆHoly shit if that ainā€™t a metaphor for life and the goals we set!

Getting started is almost always the hardest part.

āœ”ļøAm I right? Or amiright?!

We now interrupt this newsletter to bring you a special message from our friends at Wreaths Across America:

In case youā€™ve missed it, I lost one of my best friends in 2019. Among many other titles he honorably carried, Brandon was a Marine and heā€™s buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
Since Brandonā€™s passing, his loved ones, myself included, have participated in Wreaths Across Americaā€” a 501c3 nonprofit who aims to honor our nationā€™s fallen heroes through various activities including their annual nation-wide wreath laying ceremony.
During this ceremony, thousands of Americans meet at National Cemeteries across the US to lay a wreath at the headstone of every fallen Marine, Soldier, Sailor, and Airman.
This is no easy task, it takes a ton of donations and even more volunteer hours. Brandonā€™s family and mine do both, we volunteer and donate. Iā€™m only asking you to please donate. This year, thanks to his amazing sister, we are in charge of his entire section (the area heā€™s buried).
At the time I wrote this, 10:49pm 11/26/2023 we are 92% to our goal. Hopefully by the time you read this we have long surpassed it. DONā€™T STOP DONATING, other areas always need more and weā€™ll use those so no headstone reaches Christmas empty.

We now return to your regular scheduled newsletter. THANK YOU!

šŸ’„NOW! Once you do get started, do not let up. Keep the pressure high and consistent. Consistency is key.

Once momentum is established it can be easy to let up and coast through. Until, that is, you come across adversity, an obstacle, a slight incline.

šŸ”If I would have let up when pushing that car, I would not have had enough juice to get it up and over that hill. But because I remained steadfast in my effort, maintaining a constant and consistent level of pressure, even after I didnā€™t need to, I was able to get that car to the gas station.

How many times do we get going but then pull back and ease up because we feel comfortable? How many times have you seen your favorite sports team get a comfortable lead then let off the gas only to have their opponent come back and beat them?!

šŸ„‡And lastly, every time I stop Iā€™m always the first to help but then before Iā€™m able to get the car out of harms way there is always more help that comes. It may take awhile before that 2nd person joins in but once he/she comes then a 3rd comes pretty quick thereafter and a 4th is immediately after, etc. Itā€™s soon a domino effect of good Samaritans. Donā€™t wait until someone else helpsā€” YOU be that initial help!

Yā€™all, whether weā€™re talking about pushing a car, playing in a game, or the crazy life we all have to face every day the message is the same:

  • ā¤ļøHave the courage to be the 1st, this world needs more leaders with strong and meaningful intentions behind their actions.

  • šŸƒšŸ½ā€ā™‚ļøOnce you do start, donā€™t let up, keep applying pressure. Lower your shoulder, dig your feet into the ground and keep driving forward.

  • šŸ’ŖšŸ½Never get too comfortable with the momentum youā€™ve gained. Comfort breeds complacency and complacency creates a cold familiarity with losing.

Let me repeat that because thatā€™s too good not to highlight:
ā€œComfort breeds complacency and complacency creates a cold familiarity with losing.ā€

Nobody likes to lose.

šŸ”„Letā€™s finish 2023 off with a relentless, uncompromising, intentional effort to apply pressure in every aspect of our lives.

Apply pressure and watch what you're capable of.

šŸ˜ŽHere are 2 of the many ways I promise to keep the pressure high going into 2024 strong, never folding under pressure:

  • I will reach 10k steps every day from now until January 1st.

  • I will workout at least 7x per week from now until January 1st (that doesnā€™t mean every dayā€” some days Iā€™ll do 2-a-days).

ā—ļøā—ļøWhat will you pledge to do so that you finish off this year the only way that there is to finish?! STRONG! Reply to this email and let me knowā€” Iā€™ll help hold you accountable!

And please never forget:

People will rarely care about how much you know until they know how much you care.

Much love, mi gente!
