First and foremost, if you were confused about Wednesday’s Hump Day Pump Day #19's title not matching up with the content you had good reason.

It's a long story not worth typing out but the title was supposed to be 🏃🏽‍♂️WE RUN IT🏃🏽‍♂️. My apologies.

Moving along!

I've noticed recently that for the first time in awhile I only have 1 active client that is younger than me.

Everybody else is 40+ (I'm 39) so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to talk about joint support and how to keep your joints as healthy as possible!

So I researched and found the two best joint support supplements I could find on Amazon.

A few things to consider first.

  • When choosing between any two (or more) supplements (in this case for joint support) there are several factors to consider.

    • 1️⃣ What are the specific needs of your joints

    • 2️⃣ Your overall health

    • 3️⃣ How your body responds to certain ingredients

Both of these supplements have their unique formulas and potential benefits, so let's break down the key components to better understand their potential effects.

The Break Down:

Supplement #1 has more Glucosamine (2000 mg), BUT the one with 1500 mg is Glucosamine Sulfate which has been around longer and proven to be effective. Not that Glucosamine HCL hasn't proven to be beneficial in case studies and research, because it has, but me, personally would go with sulfate. (Especially because it's not a HUGE difference how much glucosamine is in each). Edge: Supplement #2

Chondroitin Sulfate 1200 mg vs 800 mg. Edge: Supplement #1

MSM helps reduce joint inflammation and pain. Both have equal amount, 500 mg. Edge: Tie

Hyaluronic Acid helps keep joints lubricated and offers some pain relief. 10 to 50 mg. Edge: Supplement #2

Other key differences:

Only in supplement #1:

Vitamin D (10 mcg) though a low dose, is important for bone health. Would still need to supplement additional vitamin D to experience the benefits.

Only in supplement #2:

Aloe Vera Gel (2 mg of 200:1 extract) anti-inflammatory properties.

Vitamin C (200 mg) which is vital for collagen production and repair of cartilage, bones, and teeth. This addition could provide extra support for joint and overall health.

Edge: Supplement #2

Overall edge: Supplement #2

Both supplements contain ingredients that work synergistically, but for me, the presence of vitamin C and aloe vera in Supplement 2, puts it over the edge because of their additional anti-inflammatory benefits along with their help with collagen production. Plus, I already get enough vitamin D from the sun, other supps, and my nutrition.

If you already get in enough Vitamin C you may consider taking supplement #1 as your favorite!

Oh, and I chose liquid form because it absorbs better than pill form!

PRO TIP:

Salmon, almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, and flaxseeds are not only high in omega-3s but also contain antioxidants, which can help protect against inflammation in yo’ joints.
