Not too long ago Cornell University polled thousands of people on their death beds to see what their biggest regrets were. Sadly, 76% listed ā€œnot fulfilling my ideal selfā€ as their #1 regret.

Whatā€™s wild is many of you will read that, will also be bothered by it just as I am, but wonā€™t take immediate action.

Did you also know that in that same study it became rather evident the vast majority of the people polled regretted their inaction throughout their lives far more than any actions taken?

Hereā€™s a picture illustrating some other similar findings from another report:

 

Itā€™s clear that we all want to and need to lead a life of happiness and fulfillment.

And yet, we waitā€¦ and waitā€¦ and waitā€¦

Until itā€™s too late!

So Iā€™ll take you back to my first newsletter of 2024, only a couple of weeks agoā€” just get started. You know what happens when you work on yourself? Little by little, a little becomes a lot.

And as you get better, so too does everything else in your life.

It all boils down to us all having that hard and necessary conversation with our present self, for the betterment of our future self.

For me, that conversation starts with two key questions:

  1. ) When you wake up in the morning and you get ready for the day, how do you feel about what that day looks like for you? As a whole and broken up into sections.

    Do you look at it with misery? Do you dread it? Or are you damn fired up and ready to attack it, presenting your best self to the world?!

  2. ) As your day winds down and you get ready for bed, and you reflect on your day, did you do the things you set out to do?

    Did you get distracted? Were you bored and/or miserable? Or did you take on the day with purpose and intention?! Did that day create a sense of fulfillment for you?!

However you answer these questions will help you determine whether or not you are operating at a wavelength conducive to the greatest version of yourself that epitomizes happiness, positive productive purpose, and true self-fulfillment.

All things, that I think, we can all agree on, will send us to our death beds with absolutely zero regrets.

Iā€™m almost there. I strive each and every day to live out what I feel is my purpose, my destiny, so to speak. And as much as I still love training people to reach their health and fitness goals, that alone no longer does it for me.

I feel called to do more and to be more.

I know with my life experiences and the steps Iā€™ve taken, and will continue to take, towards learning more and more about not just the human body but the brain, its function, and human behavior I can also help people reach their ā€œideal selfā€.
