šŸš«šŸ‘ŽšŸ½ARE YOU DOING LAT PULLDOWNS WRONG?

To piggy back off of last weekā€™s scapular pullups, weā€™re going to segway right into lat pulldowns.

The CORRECT way to do lat pulldowns.

You know the drill, watch the video and then read below for further explanation and more tips!

In addition to everything I said in the video, make sure youā€™re also NOT:

  • āŒļøPulling the bar too far down. From time to time Iā€™ll see people pulling the bar to the bottom of their chest (or lower) thinking theyā€™re doing right because theyā€™re pulling it ā€˜lowerā€™ and getting ā€˜betterā€™ range of motion. Wrong. Like Kelea demonstrates in the video, your aiming point for the bar needs to be your upper chest, just below your neck. Pulling it lower than that results in little to no lat activation and will cause your shoulders to protract forward, adding to your already poor posture and further increasing your risk of injury.

  • āŒļøGoing too heavy. Going to heavy will prevent you from being able to retract and squeeze your scaps which doesnā€™t allow for proper muscle recruitment. It will also force you to roll those shoulders forward, again, adding to your problems rather than creating and enhancing strengths.

You can see how not to do it in the two gentlemen below, first one has his shoulders WAY forward while the second one does too but also is pulling the bar too low:

Similar subject as its still fitness related but different topic, Iā€™ve had a few of my clients mention that I should start recommending different fitness products/equipment that I feel would be beneficial for my readers so lets give this a whirl:
***Full disclosure***
While I am an amazon affiliate (Iā€™ll get a tiny kickback), Iā€™m in no way affiliated to these particular products, just saw the great deals, did some quick research to make sure theyā€™re quality products, and figured Iā€™d share them for anyone who may be in the market:

I know lots of folks are still working remotely, hereā€™s a cool tool to stay active and work at the same time. Slide this little guy up against your desk, and get yoā€™ steps in while you crank out those emails!

And then thereā€™s this badass bench on a crazy sale for those who need to add to their home gym. Looks legit, if I didnā€™t have so many benches already Iā€™d jump all over this deal! Click the link here to their storefront and then go find this bench:

As always, thank you so much for reading, hope you enjoyed it and if you didnā€™t learn anything, hopefully it at least reaffirmed how correctly youā€™re already doing lat pulldowns!
